love

Whether he is far away or not depends on you. Love, and he will draw near to you; love, and he will dwell in you. The tax collector who dare not raise his eyes to heaven. And heaven came to him.

immediacy of contrition

Make acts of contrition Don’t be surprised, for the just man falls seven times, and gets up each time.[10] In our spiritual combat, failures will not be lacking. But when faced with our mistakes, our errors, we should react immediately and make an act of contrition. It will come to our hearts and to our lips as quickly as blood rushes to a wound, and will successfully resist the foreign body, the germ of infection. As I live, declares the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel? And you, son of man, say to your people, “The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him when he transgresses; and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall by it when he turns from his wickedness, and the righteous shall not be able to live by his righteousness when he sins” (Ezek 33:11-12).

burning coals

Burning  coals For my children, I pray for the fortitude of spirit which will enable them to carry their environment with them wherever they go. A child of God in his Work has to be like a burning coal and enkindle fire wherever one is or at least raise the spiritual temperature of those around one, drawing them to live an intensely Christian life.

conscience

'What is conscience?' wrote Mgr d'Hulst. 'It is the rule of good in us. What is Jesus? He is the rule of good outside us. And these two rules are really one and the same.'

one percent courage

Rather than focusing on a one percent chance, let’s muster up one percent of courage. Because 1 is more than zero. And even if we have 1% courage, we can do something.
