ATTACHMENT TO IMH
It was a bad start. I was supposed to get up at 6.15, but i ended getting up at 7am!! I hurriedly bathe. I ended up taking the taxi, only reaching IMH at 7.40am. I ate Mee rebus, sedap :D
The irritating part was the rest came LATE. I should have just taken the MRT, and saved 14 bucks.!(*@&!(###!!@
but i got over that lah.
The environment is really nice! so peaceful and serene. It really takes your mind off stress, and is definitely award-worthy. We then attended a briefing on the patient profile, and what we would expect there.
Upon entering the ward, the environment wasn't as pleasant anymore. Not only did the green atmosphere disappear, the top were grilled like cages, and the place has this tangibly sad atmosphere.
These all changed when we entered the ward. We were hugely welcomed by patients with handshakes. Guo Yong's face was EPIC when a patient shook his hand and refused to let go. Guo Yong just smiled. and smiled. and awkwardly smiled.
We proceeded to interact with the patients. I was in my zone as i just interacted with the patients. I can smile so comfortably, and be so assured to see them smile back after receiving it. Even if they didnt, I know they are very heartened. I love interacting with them, listening to what they have to say. It amuses me to hear from them, how they speak so simply, yet so clearly. And I am so comfortable to make a fool of myself just to see them be amused and smile.
There was Caroline, a verbos patient who spoke her mind on everything. She refused to colour, only played Jingga by herself.Guo Yong played with her. Then she stopped playing exactly at 11am, cause she is going to have lunch at 12pm. I then coloured with her and for her. She smiled. and smiled so sweetly and honestly at that. I spelt her name: CAROLINE and she was beaming with joy. i just melted.
There were another pair of patients: Ranka and Bahkia. IT's so sweet to see their friendship so mutual and strong, even when they are mentally unsound.IF they know waht friendship is at their intellect, how can we with normal intellect not know it?
Ranka was so supportive of Bahkia's every decision, and made Bahkia happy by praising her with her colouring, greeting her with her birthdays, and praised her son. I cannot be more touched at that than this sight of friendship. I made Ranka a nice awesome card. and she passed it to Bahkia for her birthday. That's the beauty of friendship.
